The legal requirement to periodically inspect and test electrical installations and portable appliances is laid down in Regulation 4(1) and 4(2) of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989. These regulations state that the electrical system should be designed, installed, constructed and maintained in a safe manner AT ALL TIMES.
